Overview

Casa Melibea is a charming coffee shop nestled in the vibrant neighborhood of Hipódromo, Ciudad de México. Located on Celaya 9 Esquina con Ámsterdam, this café invites visitors into a peaceful yet lively sanctuary that blends culinary delight with artistic expression.

The menu highlights a thoughtfully curated selection, with the omelette standing out as a savory staple that embodies simple, fresh ingredients. Equally enticing is their Tarta Aguacate y Salmón Ahumado, a delicate balance of creamy avocado and smoky salmon that pairs beautifully with their signature Cafe Latte—a smooth, comforting brew that perfectly complements the fresh dishes.

What truly sets Casa Melibea apart is its atmosphere. The outdoor seating area, lush with plants, creates a natural retreat in the heart of the city, making it an ideal spot for freelancers or anyone seeking a calm space to work or reflect. The morning light floods this terrace with warmth, crafting a serene environment where neighborhood rhythms unfold gently—people walking dogs, runners greeting the day, and the quiet pulse of everyday life.

Beyond food and drink, Casa Melibea serves as a small community hub. Inside, local artisans showcase handmade goods, from pottery and plants to hats and tote bags. This thoughtful curation enhances the sense of authenticity and creativity, inviting guests to connect with the local culture on multiple levels.

Casa Melibea appeals to those who appreciate more than just a caffeine fix. Its audience includes morning seekers of quiet moments, lovers of fresh and healthy fare, and admirers of local art and design. While some find certain items slightly elevated in price, the overall experience of warmth, quality, and community feel justifies the visit.

In sum, Casa Melibea embodies a rare blend of culinary care, artistic soul, and a welcoming space. For anyone exploring Roma or Hipódromo, it offers more than a coffee stop—it's a place to breathe, savor, and belong.

The MOST lovely coffee shop in Roma. I have been going there almost every week since I moved here! Always sunny which is honestly extremely hard to find elsewhere, the staff is incredibly nice and the prices are better than in most places. Their homemade juices are also absolutely delicious and so cheap! 10/10 recommend.

Casa Melibea has become one of my quiet morning rituals in Condesa. Around 8:00–8:30 a.m., I like to sit outside with a ginger tea and just watch the neighborhood wake up. From that little chair, you see everything people walking their dogs, others starting their day with a run, the flow of the park, and the peaceful rhythm of the area. It’s a perfect spot to simply be. What makes this place special is that it’s more than a café. Inside, they curate a mix of handmade products, from hats and tote bags to small plants, pottery, and unique pieces created by local designers. It feels like a small community space warm, creative, and full of personality. The atmosphere is calm, the service is friendly, and the whole concept is charming and authentic. It’s the kind of place you return to because it gives you something simple but rare: a moment to breathe and enjoy the neighborhood.

Nice menu with healthy options. Nice location too, it is quite enjoyable to sit down there and watch people pass by. Special teas too! However, I found it overpriced for the quality of the products - I order some toasts and didn’t enjoy the bread

Delicious breakfast. Fresh fruit. Fantastic chilaquiles with eggs and they have a curated arts and crafts shop by local artisans with paintings and jewelry.

Casa Melibea is in one of the most beautiful corners of Condesa – right next to Ámsterdam lane, which gives it such a great vibe. The spot is sunny and relaxed, perfect for a slow morning. That said, the food didn’t fully deliver – the coffee wasn’t great and the salmon bagel was pretty boring. Still, the location alone makes it worth a stop if you’re in the area.

Really cute place that had a good range of coffees/juices/sweet treats. Was lovely to sit outside and watch the world go by! The shop also had a few cute artsy bits too which was a nice touch.
